Re: can someone post the JBL radio wire harness diagram for 2005 highlander ? thank
LifeTech ! thanks very much, much appreciated,
just what I thought,
there is an antenna amplifier that needs a power signal
according to the schematic, it is the orange wire
I'm putting in an aftermarket radio Kenwood DDX812
but preserving the JBL amp. To do this I had to
use the Metra wire harness TYTO-01, otherwise the JBL
amp won't know to turn on because it needs to receive a
digital signal to turn on .
the aftermarket radio works just fine but can't get FM/AM reception,
now I know why, LifeTech was kind enough to post the JBL schematic and you can see there is an antenna amp that needs to be turned on,
also, if you guys look at the back of our JBL HU, there are TWO antenna wires (one large / one small) , it was confusing as heck because the aftermarket radio had only one antenna input. I'm assuming it has something to do with the rear in-glass antenna that came with the JBL systems
I just used the one big antenna plug into the aftermarket unit and left the small one dangling ,
this resulted in no FM/AM reception, so now I try
using the power antenna wire from the Kenwood to supply a signal to the antenna amp , hopefully this will work. I'll let you guys know,
If I get this right, I'll be sure to post the procedures with pictures on how to change the head unit on the highlanders with JBL .
thanks guys.
