HighlanderGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid.
This is a discussion thread titled "New Tires on 2003 Highlander", within the Highlander forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
I'm a new Highlander owner. Bought an 03 a few months ago.
I've noticed a few threads about tires so I thought I throw out another brand question.
I'm about to replace my OEM Goodyear Integrity's and can't wait to have a decent tire on my Highlander. Personally, I'm leaning towards the Michelin LTX M/S. I've shopped around a little at different tire shops to see what they recommend and why.
One of them recommended the Firestone Destination LE. I haven't heard much noise either way on this one and I'm curious if anyone out there has experience with this tire. Specifically, how do they ride, handle, wear and how quiet are they?
I'm still kind of surprised how many michelins are on the survey. I don't know how they disribute them that they sell so many. Even if they are good tires.

You can't go wrong with the michelin Ltx. I have run 2 sets. 1996 4runner 4wd and a 1997 landcruiser Awd. Both were 95k plus tires. I always rotated them between 6k-8k mi. They are more expensive though.
We put the Goodyear Fortera Triple Treads on our 2002 Highlander about 2 years ago. Still looking like new. Much better than the original tires (Bridgestone Duelers). Got a local dealer to match tire rack price.
They are softer and just as quiet as the dueller's, which looks misleading due to the deep treads and wide gaps it has. Looks to have great wet traction.
Can't tell if rolling resistance is less like other people claim, but future mpg calculations should show that.
My only gripe is it's too soft for my tastes. Tried some emergency maneuvers last night and the response is very poor.
