Great job on the installation. But personally, I don't like all that blank space on the sides of the Stereo. It would bother me after ahwile. I think I would just pay the extra money and get the OEM Navigation. That's just me, if you like it congrats on your new stereo.

so finally you got hold of the vehicle. Congrats!

Olander , yea.. i agree with the OEM flush looks but i really dislike the OEM nav's interface. I can do so much more with this unit.

hihy08, yup.. finally got it. i am still thinking of which running board i should get. i have my eyes on the wedge style from trdparts4u.

Great job! I love the DVD/Nav that I installed in my Tundra, a Pioneer AVIC Z2. That nav has saved my butt more than once. I'm not talking about the nav part, I'm talking about the POIs. I was able to get the phone numbers of hotels while I was driving. I was able to make a reservation before we reached the town.

It's too bad that it won't fit in the wife's HL. Maybe it will have to wait till we upgrade her HL. In the meantime, we will probably plop a Garmin or something on the dash.

I agree with the looks of the blank spaces where the knobs were, I'm not a fan. I think the factory does that on purpose to discourage folks from going with aftermarket units. I could learn to live with it because the aftermarket nav systems are sooo much better.

I don't know if there is a hack for it or something, but I don't think you can even program the factory nav unless you are stopped. At least that's the impression I got in a friend's 4Runner.

you can hack the oem nav. most of the time you add a switch and reroute a few wires. when you hit the switch, you pretty much disable the vss wire so that the nav thinks you are stopped (while you are still driving). you can then type in your new address, hit the switch and the nav will recal itself with the new address.
