HighlanderGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid.
This is a discussion thread titled "cleaning interior seats etc", within the Highlander forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
ok with two kids( 2.5yr old and 4.5yr old) I knew I should have gotten leather!!
After a year of owning the HL, I think the seats look crappy, misc juice stains etc. I noticed these seats are very unforgiving when it comes to stains, (ie, they show up and are very noticeable even with clear liquids!)
Whats the best way to clean them? What products do you guys use and recommend to make my seats look like the day I got my HL (almost showroom like )
I used some of the 303 Aerospace Fabric/ Vinyl Cleaner on my 4Runner the other day.
Work great on stains. I had super heavy coffee/coke/oil/whatever stains on the carpet and seats. Try to clean it up in order to sell it fast. So I have to make it super clean.
Just spray on the stains, leave it a few minutes... wipe it with clean wet towels.... repeat if needed. But I was surprised! Never use this product before!
Read the instruction on the back of the bottle. It will tell you the mixing ratio.
I use some Armor All Fabric Cleaner, but I don't have a particular reason for using this brand over something else. I spary it on, it foams there and I leave it for about five minutes, then I shop-vac it off. I have a plastic-bristled brush, but the HL seats don't like it. I do this about twice a year, my wife spills coffee constantly and it does a decent job at that.
With any cleaning product (ok, armor all and resolve) the HL fabric seats will spot, so you need to do the whole seat, not just one small area.
Have you considered a can of scotch guard? It's less than ten bucks and will do a good job of shedding these types of spills.
i just use simple green, but i use the bissel spot bot, which is a small wet vac, to clean it. it's excellent for small stains on most durable fabrics.
