Default 2002 Highlander

Today I'm the proud owner of a 2002 Highlander, 4 cyls with 70K. First thing I tightened the heater control knob which was loose. Next project is to fix the sun visors. In testing the HL, it was very loud and noisy. Turned out to be tires, new also today. Looking forward to many years of service.
A Happy camper

Welcome to the club. If it's 4wd, you might have some work on your hands changing the diff/xfer case lubes. Other than that, after the sun visors, you might want to take a look at the cabin air filter (behind the glove box, direction in the owners manual), but that's about all that could be overlooked during normal maitenance. What tires did you have that were so loud? And what now?

We don't see as many 4cyls out there as I would think (around here it seems like 1/4 are 4cyl, but in the forum there's only a couple), but I haven't heard any horror stories and ours is still moving under it's own power. Best of luck, and if you have any problems or questions, a half dozen people around here are always willing to chime in!

No its a 2wd. The noise was the tires, I think they were all terrain. I had Firestone tires put on with a 50K warranty. This 4 banger is plenty for my driving, mostly in Florida. So far I'm a happy camper.
Look forward to reading more about the HL on this forum.
Thanks

Congratulation on the "new to you" HL. It has been my favorite since the first time I brought it home! I would still drive it everyday if my Wife did not steal it half the week !!! We actually both prefer to drive it as opposed to the Acura TL!! how funny
