I have my '09 Highlander back now, with a new transmission. I have only put 100 miles on the new transmission, but so far it sounds and runs great; the whine is gone. I just hope it stays gone.

Thanks for that. I have almost 20k on mine and everything seems fine. Any noise I think I hear is just normal for this car.
It certainly isn't like it was.

One more thing... If you have a dipstick, you should keep track of the fluid level for a while.
