Default Replacing Air/Fuel Sensor Validation

So our 2001 Highlander (2WD, V6) has the check engine light coming on. Went to autozone for diagnostic and get P1150 - air/fuel senor range/performance, bank 1sensor 2 as issue.

Causes were:
Open or short circuit condition
Poor electrical connection

I just want to validate I am doing the right thing. I am not really electrical in checking ohms and volts and understanding what I find (yea I can check it but no idea what it means). So I assume that I just need to replace the part. I found a Denso for 180 and a Bosch for 230 as OEM air/fuel sensor replacement parts.

So my steps are, get an official repair manual, order the Denso (??? is there a difference or should I go to Toyota) then replace part. Of course reset the codes when done. Sound ok?

(I am a gadget mechanic - can take things apart but really have no experience with cars but can follow directions purty good)

Default Re: Replacing Air/Fuel Sensor Validation

You probably don't need a repair manual for this. Someone here will know what exact sensor that is, or search the forums. I would order the Denso, that's probably OEM for Toyota. You will need a breaker bar, or a piece of cast iron pipe for the end of your ratchet, you can usually borrow the rather large socket from Autozone, and some PB blaster. I'd plan on letting it soak overnight.

Make sure you clean the contacts well on the existing wires the plugs into. I use rubbing alcohol.
