Default Power door lock not working causing alarm to go off

Normally when I turn off the car the locks engage and the alarm is set. Because the front driver's side door does not fully lock, the alarm goes off every few seconds.

Using the remote also does not lock the doors either. I have to manually lock them. Anyone know a solution? I read somewhere about getting inside and spraying WD40.

Don't know whether I should start a new thread. But I am sick and tired of this situation and would rather just disable the alarm altogether. I've searched here and everywhere else and could not find how to do it. The alarm has the red light on the left side of the dash if that's any help as to what kind of alarm it is. Thanks again.

I'm a little confused, what do you mean the driver door does not fully lock?

As a side note, maybe the alarm has a valet switch you can activate so that the alarm doesnt set?

do you know if this is a factory alarm or aftermarket?

Let me explain a little further. The lock that normally moves into its locking position when either engage with the Toyota remote or door-locking-button does not move all the way into its locking position. So the alarm senses a lock not fully engage and the alarm goes off until I press the unlock button on the remote. This happens only on the driver's side door. All the other doors lock.

I rather just do away with the alarm altogether, fix the lock and be done with it.

Not sure if this is a factory install or not as I bought it with it installed already. The button on the dash looks exactly like the one in this thread.

Sounds like a bad lock actuator. I had the same problem in my 97 Camry. The drivers door actuator controls all the locks. Mine would unlock ok but would not lock from the key pad. Also the lock on the drivers door would only go half way. You could hear the lock actuate but it didn't lock.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks fro the response. Is this something I can do myself or am I better off going to the dealer?

Turns out it was the actuator. The warranty took care of it. Good thing since this would've cost about 300 bucks to fix! Thanks.

Before you shell out any money on vehicle alarms or steering wheel anti-theft locks. Do you always lock and remove your keys even when it is cold outside and you are positive you will be inside the grocery store for a few minutes? Do you make a conscious effort to lock your valuables in the trunk?
