Default Help!! replace gauge cluster glass

Well my wifes 02 highlander developed some fog behind the instrument cluster glass a while back and it won't go away. Dealership naturally says it won'treplace it under warrenty because the fog is due to excessive wear and tear on our part. How i don't know but they won't replace it. So I'm going to replace it myself instead of paying those slugs 100 bucks plus parts. So my question is this how can i access the cluster. Is it like my Honda ridgeline and you just pop the faca off and there ya go or can you replace or clean the glass at all. thanks guys.

Hi, you were on the right track. The silver plastic trim piece just pops off. Just be gentle and you should have no problems. If you email me, I may be able to send you some pictures that I have from when I took my gauge cluster apart to see what bulbs they were using back there. Unfortunately, they are LEDs that I can not access to change the color.

Hope that helps and good luck.

PS. Deff change it out yourself. very easy and quick to do.

Oh one last thing. I believe you need to remove the trim piece around the AC controls FIRST in order to get the trim piece around the gauges off.

I had a problem with my gauge cluster fogging up after I sprayed invisible glass on it. My dad took his dremel and used some type of polish and it literally pulled the fogginess right off.
