Default Exhaust Tip - Cargo Carrier

Have an '05 Highlander Limited and I installed the OEM hitch. Bought a Everlast Cargo Carrier from CostCo and realized after 4 hours of driving that the exhaust burnt a hole in the bag sitting on the cargo carrier.

I bought a Gibson Turndown Exhaust Tip (Inlet Size 2.5", Outlet Size 3", Length 12"). It looks like I will need to cut the muffler in order to install the tip but the inlet size on the tip matches the flared end on the muffler. If I cut it back, it won't match and probably won't stay there. Also, it will stick out way too far.

Anyone else have experience with this? Wasn't sure if it was a DIY job or if I should take it to a muffler shop. The tip is a clamp on but I'm sure they can weld it. Any 'tips'?

My first tip would be to re-size that picture. Even on my 21" widescreen monitor it's a pain to have to scroll sideways to see and read.

Cheers!

If you like the tip a lot, might weld it for a permanent fit. Please do resize the screen.
