Default What maintenance is worth doing at 17k?

Vehicle is a 2008 HL Spors, 4WDD

1. To maintain aftermarket warranty?

2. To maintain car for long haul?

3. And which are just to boost dealer profit margin?

Many, many thanks for your help,
gt

Well start with the basics, get a oil change done irrespective of when it was done. Get a log book and start with maintainence.

In a month's time I will get the x-case and diff fluids flushed out and put in M1 or Amsoil Sevear Gear 75W90. There is a thread I started which tells you exactly how to do it and the parts. If you face any problems, I would suggest pinging LT on this forum, he is also from NYC. Nice guy...

Then get under the car and towards the right fender you will see power steering return line. Drain via this hose and fill reservior with M1 ATF.

Then drain and fill transmission pan with 4-5 Q of T-IV fluid. Reuse the washers, they are good for life...

Once you have dealt with all lubrication fluids, oil, gear fluids, transmission and power steering, you are good to go for a long time...

Are you saying that the electronically assisted steering on the '08s still use power steering fluid?

My ignorance... I didn't know the new models had electric power steering.
One less lubricating preventive maintainance item.

Many thanks to you all for the posts.

The service manager confirmed what you all said. Diff fluids are key at that mileage.

Also, have to replace tires, as the OEM Bridgestone's didn't last despite being regularly rotated. I'm annoyed as I had asked the dealer to provide Toyos or Michelins as OEM. Didn't get it in writing, so it didn't happen.

All best,
GT
