Hi -- new sight for me I have been having a problem with the idot light for low tire presure and the dealer has had the Highland 3 time now and can not locate any problem now he said if it happen again the will have to look a repacing the ECH any ideas???
Mine has been coming on every few weeks lateley. The tire pressure is ok so I just reset it. It does not bother me so much that I want to spend $$ on it.
The tire pressure monitoring system is a part of the ABS/Stability Control system. It counts the revolutions of each wheel, and if one is significantly less than another, it trips the light assuming it is low on air. The problem you are likely having, is that the sensor on one of your wheels isn't functioning 100%, and sending fewer then the total number of rotations.
How to determine what wheel sensor is on it's way out? I can't tell you, but perhaps someone else here can.
You need to ensure that all tires are not only at (or above) the tire pressure recommendation in your manual, but that all of your tires have the SAME tire pressure. Even if they are above the recommended tire pressure as stated in the manual, if one of them is at 31psi and the other 3 are at 34psi, the light will come on.
Also, the spare tire has a sensor in it, make sure that tire gets checked when you make any adjustments.
After you set all four (or five) tires to the correct and same tire pressure, reset the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System). The TPMS will now be set correctly.

No, the Highlanders don't have a sensor in each wheel (or the spare) it's all done by the ABS/VSC computer.
For our 2004, I keep all the tires at 30~32. My Right Rear looses about 2lbs per month. The light comes on when it hits about 25psi.
That being said, if the light comes on at 25, and I press the button to reset it... then fill the tire... it will come on a second time and needs to be reset again. Perhaps this is your issue?

This is just more information since the OP has an '05, but the '08s have sensors in each wheel to include the spare.
