Just what is the difference between AWD and the Highlander 4WD? Would someone please fully explain? Thanks............

IMO there is no difference, just marketing hoopla. AWD referrers to all the wheels having power usually in a constant 70% front 30% rear scenario, 4wd referrers to all the wheels having power usually with a 50/50 split. However, depending on what manufacturer and what Model type both can mean the same thing.

HL comes in Front wheel drive and 4 Wheel Drive . On the HL yu get a 50/50 full time Drive until slippage at one end occorrs ... then the Transfer case shifts the torque as needed... more to front or rear.
