Default Scion/Highlander fogs from ebay

I have searched and found a few other using the Scion fogs for their HL. I have an '04 and wanted to know what year of the Scion fogs i need to look for? also does anyone know what kind of bulb fits into those fogs? I would like to use the prewired harness i have.

Thanks for any help!

They take any 9006 bulb. Scion Xa fogs. Do a search here, you'll find a good walkthrough.

On mine, I ordered the ebay fogs. They came with lights. They also came with a switch, that with a little modification I got to fit in my dash. I got the relay from a boneyard. I used a dremel to cut the existing plugs to be trim rings for the new fogs. Total cost of about 70 bucks. Well worth it.

Bepperb, what exactly did yu need to trim using the dremel??

I needed to trim or cut nothing . It was an exact replacement/drop-in. assembly for 04-07 HL's/ 1st gen Scion. The 9006 bulb (included low beam bulb) fits the existing OE harness plug.
I got mine also from ebay ...I chose the amber lensed fogs with Restrictor removed.(Japan version) to replace my OE clear lens with restrictor(bulb cover)

LT, you didn't dremel anything because you bought the trim rings from a dealer.

I used the old front bumper blanks instead. If you look at one of the blanks, the inside is chamfered about 1/4 inch in (looking from the front). I used an abrasive wheel and followed the line. I had planned on this being a short term solution, but that was in June and I don't think it qualifies anymore.

Yes, it looks very good, like something from the factory. Good enough I haven't gone and bought the trim rings. No, the plastic hasn't melted. No, I didn't use anything to seal between the trim ring and the glass. There is a gap about large enough to slide a business card into. It is the ultimate cheapest possible way to add fogs with a boneyard relay and the scion kit from ebay (and nothing else).

I'll post a picture in the next day or two, I didn't originally because I thought the plastic might melt. I'd do it right now, but it's -4 farenheight here, and I have a detatched garage.

Ok, I promised a pic so here it is. Sorry everything is covered in salt, too cold to get a carwash, I tried to clean the area with a paper towel before the pic...

Very creative. I did my moms OE fog retro on her 04. I too thought of using the OE blanks to cut out.

At first I thought yu painted and colored keyed the trim ring.

I ended up getting the 07 HL Hybrid chrome trim rings. They were like only a few dollars more than the OE Silver painted ones. The Chrome ones seem to reflect more light from the fogs. A slightly different light pattern shows. Ever so slight. But the chrome ones compliment nicely with the Headlamp chrome .

The OE trim rings do sit approx 1/4 inch away from the lens. Probably for heat protection and ability to adjust/rotate the fog lamp assembly.
