Programming 2008 Highlander Keyfob

Hello,

I have a pair of wireless door transmitters (keyfobs) that came with my 2008 Highlander, and one suddenly stopped working. I replaced the battery, and it still does not work, so I thought I would try reprogramming the car to accept the keyfob, but after trying the instructions here:

Replace Key Fob 03 Highlander

I can't get it to work. Is there a newer technique I should be using, or am I destined to meet with a dealer rep soon?

Go to dealer...don't look back.

If the instructions were followed precisely and they are the correct ones...yu have no other choice.
