Default Jush changed the windshield washer pump

Well, after owning our 2001 Toy HL for eight yrs in the Twin City of MN. The washer pump in our HL finally went dead couple of days ago. Like some of you have stated that it was not spraying out from the rear window. Ours was not spraying since beginning of fall and then it stop all together in the front. I was able to buy one from the local Toyota dealer for around $62. You maybe able to find one online for around $35-$45 online and the part number is 85330-20470. I needed one fast, 'cos it was going to snow later on this week, and I do not have a garage to work inside off. After taking out the old pump, I open up the top cover and notice the little motor inside was all rusted. It was not able to spin clockwise or counter clockwise. By spinning CW and CCW, that's why there is only one washer pump for both front and rear windows.

The installation is very easy. What I did was I used the jack to jack my front right tire as high as I can and turn the steering wheel all the way to the left. Next, I unscrew two screws from under the right side of the front bumper and three more under the wheel well. Then I move the plastic piece and bend it back. (Don't worry, it won't crack on you.) Right in front of the plastic piece, you will see the washer pump flush into the washer fluid container. Just gently pull it out with your hand, but the fluid will come gushing out the second you pull it out. Next, unplug the electrical connector, and pull out the two hose with a plier. Installing it is just the opposite.

Hey Vansolo,

Nice work on the pump and thanks for your post. I just had to do the same thing today and your post and pictures came in very handy. I have an 03 HL and was able to get the washer pump from the dealer, however, mine ran me $75.

I took a few pictures myself and thought I'd add them to help anyone else in our same predicament.
(note: you may have to click on my photo album to see them if they don't upload into this message)

To anyone who is unsure about doing this themselves, it is really straight forward. The pump literally just pull right out. You won't break anything, as it isn't screwed in or anything. The hardest part is just getting to it, and even that was just a few screws.

Thanks again for your valuable post.

Glad I was able to help you. It's good that you were able to do it now instead of 3 month or so from now when it starts snowing. Unlike me, mine went dead in the middle of winter and I had to play with it in the cold. Thou it was in the mid 20's when I had to change it. LOL......... When the temps have been in the single digit or sub-zero temp for couple of wks or so, temp in the 20's are consider warm here in this kind of places.
