Default Loction of coolant drain on 1MZ-FE V6?

The Haynes repair manual for my 2002 Highlander says that the 1MZ-FE V6 "has a coolant drain on both sides of the block". The one in the front is obvious, but for the life of me, I can't find the second.

And I'm feeling like a major idiot cause I can't find the thermostat either. Anyone know where either of these are located?

Thanks!

If there is a second block drain it is on the firewall side of the 1mz. Most people would have a hard time accessing this. It is located under the exhaust manifold. As is on bank two.
The only way to try and open this drain would be to put the HL on a lift. Not worth the trouble. Most mechanics don't bother.

The thermostat is connected at the block where the water inlet is attached. Follow the LOWER radiater hose up to the water inlet(where the hose ends). Yu must remove the Water Inlet to access the T-Stat.
Yu won't see any of this until the V-bank engine cover is removed first. Remove the Toyota Emblem/ Fastener (turn counterclockwise) and using an Allen/Hex key to remove the 3 additional front fasteners. Additionally, the Air box removal will also facilitate access..

Hope this helps.

Block drains are a real PITA. You are better off flushing the old coolant out be removing the upper radiator hose and flushing it via the radiator.
