Default replacing the Front Right Torque Strut

Has anyone replaced the upper engine mount on a 2001 Highlander? I believe the correct name for this part is the “Front Right Torque Strut”. It’s the bar that is located on the top left of the engine (as you look from the front). I can see the engine end bush is worn and I feel the engine lurch as I start to drive.

Easy job or give to the dealer?

Thanks

Two bolts and it's out or back in. 5 minutes. However, unless it's missing chunks of rubber (not the intentional voids) or the entire "doughnut" has pulled away from the housing or center sleeve, I wouldn't replace it. It is VERY rarely that it causes what you are describing. More likely the radiator side mount, down low.

I've never dealt with an engine mount that isn't easy to replace, and this one looks no different. Just unbolt the old one and rebolt the new one. It won't be prestressed or anything crazy like that. You may want to have a jack below the engine with a board on it supporting the oil pan, but I doubt you'll need it.

But, is it really that bad? Does the engine lurch when you put it in gear, or after it's in gear as you apply throttle to move forward? Do you have someone who can rev the engine while you watch underhood?

I replaced the strut. I was an easy job and the car drives slot better now. I've linked pics to the old strut:

If anyone else attempts this job. I would recoment applying the emergency brake after pulling forward and stopping, then put the car in park. This keep the engine in its correct position and the bolts have no weight on them.

Thanks for the help guys.
