Default Steering intermediate shaft and steering wheel shake

My 2004 V6 Highlander has the low speed knock in the steering. I believe I have found the answer why and the solution in the thread titled " '05 V6 HL - slight knock thru steering ". I have an EasyCare extended warranty and have printed off the TSB from the mentioned thread. Hopefully one of the 3 'local' Toyota dealers will work with me.

I also have steering wheel shake at speeds between 65-75 mph. My problem might be in the wheel balancing. Before I get the wheels rebalanced, might the intermediate shaft issue be also the steering wheel shake problem?

in my opinion no relation to the two. my 04 runs smooth- even when it had the "bad" intermediate shaft - just a short piece of steel under the footwell.

Thanks for that. I'll try the rebalance of the front tires and see what happens.
