Default High RPM at cruising Speed

Hi there.
I have a 2003 Highlander Limited with the 3.0L V6.
I get so so mileage and it really varies with driving speed, load etc.
What I really think is that my HL is revving too high a highway speeds.

Can any of you 03 owners( or others) do me a favor and tell me what your tach says at 100km/hr (60-65 mph)?
Mine is reading 2500-2600.
It also varies from trip to trip.

It seems really high for a V6 with overdrive.
