I've read the posts on check engine, VSC and trac off lights.
I've replaced the bank 1 sensor 1 at the firewall after Advance Auto and Toyota Dealership mechanic determined the defect.
The check engine light is now off and stays off but the vsc and trac off lights keep coming on after clearing the codes with leaving the battery negative cable disconnected overnight.
The hose behind the air cleaner is properly attached and the gas cap is tightened past several "clicks".
Anyone have additional ideas to clear these lights?
Vehicle runs and handles fine.

Any VSC or TRAC codes... if not, sounds like the steering angle sensor/yaw rate sensor needs to have a ZERO POINT CALIBRATION done. But codes would help alot.

Is the steering angle / yaw sensor callibration done with a wheel alignment?
I'll have to get a recheck done at Autozone to identify if there are codes stored.

Yes, it is supposed to be done....doesnt have to usually. Unless the steering was way off. But it is a good idea, also if the battery was changed or went low or dead, that will cause it to loose calibration also or... or.. I could go on, but need codes to help guide us in the right direction. I dont think AZ can read ABS/TRAC codes, they canonly do engine codes. I am fairley sure you have to have the dealer read those, most will read it for free ( diagnosis is extra) but not all.

Of course you're right. AZ could find no codes.
The trac off and vsc lights don't come until I move the vehicle.
It makes sense that the callibration of the steering angle and yaw sensor changed when I removed the battery ground cable. I should have only removed the ECU fuse.

I'll arrange to get a wheel alignment and ask to get that sensor recallibrated.

They can calibrate it without aligning the vehicle, but alignments are always good to have done once in a while.
Please post if/when they find anything

Hi Mustang,
I had Toyota check the codes "Trac off and VSC" and they found the issue with the steering angle / yaw rate sensor. The tech reset it and the lights are and stay out.
It seems to handle better than when the lights were on.
I have a question. How can one avoid losing the above sensor callibration if the battery is disconnected for other work?

That usually doesnt go out of calibration when the battery is disconnected, it seems to happen more when the batteries loose voltage slowly or go dead, it is just one of those things that happens once in a while. 4runners are worse, it happens alot to them and I cant tell you why, we usually just calibrate it and the customer is on their way. Its not a common issue, but happens once in a while.
