Question HID install on h-lander

Hey guys. I am new to the forum and own a 2003 h-lander. I just bought a Phillips 4300k hid kit, and need info for a problem I am having with it. The background info is long but I wanted to tell you exactly whats goin on so that you can send me in the right direction.
First, all of the wiring has been completed. This also includes running an extra (14 gauge) wire to the battery to prevent premature burnout on the stock headlight wires. This wire is where the ballasts pull the extra wattage from since the stock wiring is only made to handle 55 watts. The first nine seconds while the ballast is igniting requires up to 200 watts of power.
Second, both ballasts have been grounded to the chassis. But for some reason the ballasts are not igniting. The bulbs do work as I had them tested on my friends acura tl. The ballasts are clean on the inside and do not smell as though they are burnt.
So now I dont really know what else the problem can be. If there is anyone out there who has installed HIDs on a h-lander please contact me. Any ideas, post replies, or emails welcome. Thanx.

Default Wired backwards?

Don't forget that the Toyota's have power to the "hot" leads when the car is running you can verify this with test light or ohm meter. Turning the headlight switch on activates a relay to complete the ground circuit. Not sure about the HL but the Sequoia also runs everything through the body ECU. Putting power to it (your 14 ga. wire) when the switch is not activated could short/burnout that one connection, TRUST ME on why I know this! ECU price $500!

You might want to try setting up with another heavy duty relay (Bosch or Hella 40 amp) and run a good power wire to the relay and then to the igniter using the wire from the headlight to activate the new relay instead. Do the lights and ballast work if you totaly bypass the factory system and direct wire the setup (i.e. one ground and one hot direct from battery?). If not then something in the ballast has to be wrong.
