HighlanderGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid.
This is a discussion thread titled "Performing own service", within the Highlander forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
I would like to service my toyota myself. I think in most cases I would probably do a better job than the dealer. The question is if I do could I have problems getting warranty repaires done. What should I do to document that I have serviced the vehicle and what was done.
I've always maintained our vehicles primarily for the same reasons you've stated. I save my receipts and maintain a service log for maintenance, repairs/replacement items and accessory items I've added. I used to tell the sales person as I was leaving after a new vehicle purchase that the best thing they could hope for was that they wouldn't see me again until the next new one. Now I've found with the complexity of newer vehicles that's not applicable any more. That is not meant in a positive sense that they don't build them like they used to and I'm glad they don't. I just got used to completing the vehicle assembly on my earlier purchases because they were all uncompleted puzzles.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
