HighlanderGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid.
This is a discussion thread titled "Hil flexible bumper? Hows yours?", within the Highlander forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
I posted this a while back in the detailing section, with no responses.
My fairly new Hl has a few scrathes together in one side of the flexible bumper. . Went by a paint place they will only paint the whole bumper cover ( for $300).
i would like to repair the scratches - they are not big and are NOT thru the cover, only gouged the paint. i can get touch up paint from paintscratch.
what is the best filler/putty that is approved for a plastic bumper/
I called the paint part store and they had 3m panel adhesive at $38 part 08115 - do not know how much that is - I need only about twice the anount of toothpaste you would use to brush your teeth once.
anyone done this? who sells this stuff?
napa and advance do not carry a flexible body filler - even tho sem, evercoat, and 3m make flexible body filler.
and lots of damaged bumpers in most parking lots.
Does nobody fix them?
Any touch up paint will look bad on your bumper. I suggest covering it with rubber bumper strips. Itll cover up the scratches and hopefully prevent future damage..........cource if you were like me and spent $200 on a metal tail guard you wouldan't have any scratches to begin with. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...23_19_full.jpg

Some pics might help. I scratched, my Ford ranger pretty bad, lucky for me my grandpa is a body man. He got it looking brand new for less than 150.00. Most of the cost went to replacing a part, but he did all the filler and painting himself. (Easy color to match though it was black).
