You can visit Toyota's site for Owners at http://www.toyota.com/html/owners/

Click on Service + Maintenance and you can type in the model you have and the miles to see what should be performed (or what they recommend).

One of the regular maintenance items that I notice people neglect are rotating their tires every 5,000 miles or thereabouts.

would swtiching to synthetic oil allow a longer service interval? right now it's conventional oil @ 8000 kms, which i think isnt much.

Technically.......NO

According to your warranty............NO

Will a ton of people on here tell you otherwise..............YES

I would still change every 3-5K if it were mine.

Fully synthetic oil will reduce or eliminate sludge deposits ,i.e. cleaner engine overall for the life of the engine. tHat's a plus to me. But I keep intervals at 4- 5k miles. Mobil 1 i've used since 1977. Note , the New Mobil 1 Extended Performance oil does not meet Toyo specs just yet. I would not use it even though it claims intervals of 15k mile s. Use the standard Mobil 1 .(5w30) I always keep to Toyo recommendations anyway.
