Default Soon to be Owner - Two Questions

Hello All,

I have ordered a 2005 Highlander and should be getting it in a few months. I have two questions for you:

1) How is the lighting on this vehicle? Are most people happy with the low/high beam stock set up or are you putting brighter PIAA type bulbs in?

2) Are there any other good forum and/or parts sites for this vehicle?

Thanks!

RJOL,

I hear ya on many of those items. The Saturn we are replacing has the same door unlock "feature" and no auto lock at 10 mph both of which are on my Passat and I love!

I have also been reading that driving above 30 mph with the back windows down creates on heck of a bad situation. Basically the air has no where to go and starts buffering the car. Several NTHSA reports on this!

Have you tried www.tirerack.com for your tires? Certainly there is something similar you can get?

Is the oil hard to change? Toytota LOVES those small filters. They always have. I will be replacing with a big honkin Mobil One filter at my first oil change.

Thanks for the info!

I agree, with the back window down, and even sometimes with the fronts down a certain amount, cause the helicopter rotor effect.

My only other dislike is the anemic sounding horn. I am going to look into replacing that.

I replaced both the high and low beam bulbs with the PIAA Superwhites - a big improvement; however, the low beam bulbs burned out rather quickly (6 mos) due to the fact that they are on all the time (DRL). The PIAA's are just too expensive to keep in there at that rate.

I wanted to replace the fog bulbs as well, but couldn't find an easy way to get at them.

I have purchased a Hella supertone horn to replace the factory one - it is pretty weak. Haven't actually done it yet though...I've had the horn for over a year, but I'm not sure if I need to use the relay that came with it or if they are just "plug & play".

If anyone can give some guidance on replacing the horn it would be much appreciated
