Default Has anyone tried to install Sirus in their Highlander?

I just picked up my 2005 highlander and I'm having trouble figuring out where in the heck I'm going to mount my Sirius tuner. I have the Audiovox tuner, and it's kinda big and bulky. Has anyone else mounted one of these in their Highlander yet? If so, How did you do it and where did you mount it?

Hi, I do not have the XM Radio in my Highlander, but I do have it in my Infiniti I30 so maybe I can help you out with your Highlander?

I personally do not know how big and bulky your receiver is, but if you can, you may want to try and mount it in one of the floor bins in the rear cargo area. Or, what about mounting it behind one of the side walls in the rear cargo area? In order to do this, you would need to just pop off the side moulding in the rear cargo area and see how much room is back there. If there is enough room then this might be the best place for it because it will not get in your way and it will be hidden from view. The other place you may want to try is putting it right underneath one of the front seats.

I don't know if this helped or not, but feel free to email me with any other questions you have and I am sure we can make this work.

Sorry to jump in on this so late, but yes I have installed a Clarion Sirius tuner in the wife's Highlander. We don't smoke, so I took the ashtray out and formed a few blocks of scap wood to fit and level so I could mount the tuner base. I screwed the wood blocks to the center console, but the holes are hidden and won't be seen when the ashtray goes back in. I then used a piece of cardboard as a template cover the hole. Using the cardboard template a cut some auto carpet to fit over the hole and attached it with doublesided tape. Running the wires was the worst part. If you're still interested, post back and I'll take and upload some pics.

Default Sirius install

I ended up replacing the factory Toyota head unit with a Sirius ready clarion head unit and a clarion sirius tuner. It was a fairly easy install and there was plenty of space behind the head unit to hide the tuner. The only issues I had were with the wiring harness. There are two extra wires that don't hook up to the harness. Not sure what those wires are for. Seems to me they are for the navigation system that I don't have, or for the phone which I don't have either.
