HighlanderGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid.
This is a discussion thread titled "Low Pressure Tire Light went on for 2 days.", within the Highlander forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
Why is my Low Pressure Tire Light went on, have checked all my tire, but there are no flats. I have resent the light, but 5 min. later, it went back on again. What can wrong, could it be the light or my tire is loose a little. I have a 04 HighLander, V4, Front wheel. just brought it for 6 months. Pls help me, thanks.
Does my '01 have this feature? Or is this a new '04 thing. Don't remember reading about it in the manual.
It was a standard feature in '04 but I don't know if it became standard in '03 or '04 as the '02 that we had for 5 days did not have this feature.
I had the same thing happen. The wife was driving and told me the light came on. Checked and had a nail in one of the tires. I took the tire off and had an internal patch to fix the leak. I followed whatever instructions are in the manual for getting the light to go out. That's been nearly a year ago now and no problems since.

The Tire Pressure Warning System was first adopted as a standard feature on the '04 model.

I know I'm not the only one this must have happend too.... I installed my TRD wheels on my 05 and until today had no problems. Today, on a trip, my low pressure tire light started to flash. Obviously without having the original tires with sensors on there will be no reading.
How do I get the ^&* damn light to shut off now, without having to reinstall my original wheels and tires....
Thanks in advance....

Oh by the way, "Batteries are included" with the Prius & Highlander Hybrids

I am pretty shure that how it works is by looking at the rpm of each wheel that comes from th anti-lock system. There are no tire/wheel sensors. If you have a low tire the diameter will be less so more rpm on that tire.
bruegel is correct, it's just using wheel rotation sensors. As long as things are equal, it is happy, but if you made a big change in wheel diameter I don't know if there are any maximum parameters which could be sending a fault.

Well, don't take this wrong, but I believe your both incorrect. Each wheel on an 05 has a battery powered internal tire pressure RF module (part of the fill valve) that sends a signal to the ECM unit.
My tire sizes are the same and everything has worked fine since april when I installed my TRD wheels.

Oops--probably correct--you are in the Highlander Forum. Is the tire monitor problem in the Tundra listed in your long signature? I think we both answered for Highlanders; you need to look elsewhere.
