Default Quarts of ATF for HL V4?

Hi all friends,
Can anyone tell me how quarts of ATF do my Highlander needs? I have a 2004 V4, 2.4L. I don't know if I'm doing it rite or not, because I just put into my HL 3.5 quarts of ATF. Is that enough, when I drive, it feel OK, and there are no light show on. But the ATF light is only for low level of ATF not too high level, am I rtie? What should I do now? Can't read the stick, because it is hard to read.
