Default Bringing car in for repairs

Hi,
My 2001 HL V6 has 59,000 miles on it and I want to bring it into the dealership before the powertrain 5yr/60K mile warranty is up. I have a couple of questions.

1. I live in the Bay Area (San Francisco, CA) - anybody know of a good dealership to bring it to?

2.When I do bring the car in, do I just tell them to check the motor and transmission? Would they do that without charging me? Or should I bring it in for a simple oil change and tell them to check the car since they have it?

Thanks!

Unless you can give a specific problem description, they aren't going to open up a warranty ticket. If you ask them to change all the fluids and do something more than an oil change on the engine on your $, they might find something amiss that may be covered by warranty, but you will not get a "free checkup" that will do much but verify safety issues. Do you suspect any problems, or is there a history of engine or transmission problems? If so you might expand on that idea to assure it is all fixed.
