Exclamation Keyless FOB Question

My '01 didn't come with one (bought used) and I'm looking to get one. Dealer here wants $230 CDN for 1 (wow) which I reluctantly already paid. They said it'll need programming as well.

Now today, I was browsing ebay and saw that they're selling them for around $30 US!! Also said that it comes with instructions on programming them. Would that really work? Without having the original remote, can I program a new one to work with my truck?

Can't say for your vehicle specifically however most locksmiths that are trained in programming the keys can do it. My friend just had his done for his Nissan. He did his research ahead of time and actually found that having the dealer do it was a lot cheaper. The programming fees for the locksmiths around here were very high. He bought his keys from ebay as well.

You sure can. Only thing that is required is that the FCC code matches the one you had originally. Look on the back of the one you just paid for and write down the FCC code.

That's the thing, I don't have the original. Right now I have nothing... the dealer still has it and I'm supposed to go get it after work.
