Default Initial Oil Change Schedule

I know the "standard" procedure is every 5k but did anyone do it sooner for the first few changes? Many times there is extra "gunk" in there from the engine being new.

I think I will change mine at 3k with mineral oil, then 6k (mineral) then start with the synthetic at 10k.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I took mine in for its first oil change at 1,000 miles. I think I waited until 1,500 miles on my 1997 Rav4 for it's first oil change, too (way back when).

After that, I'd follow the regular 5,000 miles between oil changes.

my 2006 H/L Ltd. V6 ,I did at 400 miles with o/e filter and 5w30 mineral oil . The oil was very metalic looking and I saved a sample. Then I did my first synthetic . I followed my personal regimen for breakin (similar to toyotas recommended.) Mobile 1 5w30 change at 1500 mile. I will do my next at 5000 miles with synthetic and continue every 5000 k.
I do this to all my personal toyotas since mid 1980's when I was a tech at a toyota dealer.
