Not sure what model year the "below the center console cubby hole" started but I think its 2003 plus. Please correct me if Im wrong.
I am wondering what people put down there. Its not very easy to access. I was thinking maybe a smaller fire extinguisher. We dont use it for anything now.

Geeeeezzzz.......thanks for all the excellent recommendations!
Sorry, sometimes we like to have a laugh at someone's expense. Thanks for being a good sport. My '00 doesn't have the space you're talking about (don't think it does anyway) maybe you could post a pic and we could be more specific...

Yeah, this space sucks (hard to get to). We bought one of the plastic see-thru boxes from Target (or whatever). We have our auto first aid kit there. I think it's a great space for it. I just hope it's easy to take out when an emergency arrives.
just some towels (rags) for emergency wiping. I try not to put anything else in there because stuff CAN roll off into the footwell during hard turns. I've had an umbrella roll off the ledge and underneath my pedals..
I keep a DC to AC inverter there, plugs right into the 12V outlet and gives me standard 120V house plugs. No more need to buy car adapters for any of my devices.
For 01(first year) ,the HL had no center console from the factory. In Mid Year Toyota offered a drop in console dealer installed which many said was useless. Not many of these were available from the Parts depts.
For 02, the center console that we all know became standard. And it was more user friendly than the Dealers only version.
It is ironic that the whole sister CUV, Lexus RX300 series never had a console ,even as a dealer option. And no one complained . Having no console was a way of moving into the second row as in minivans.
