HighlanderGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid.
This is a discussion thread titled "Are you feelin the love?", within the Highlander forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
Being stuck in traffic for 3 hours this morning in the wake of the transit strike, I been doing some thinking. Having owned the highlander for a few years now, I believe its really a superior vehicle. I can't feel the potholes i drive over. The speakers are loud and clear. With the ride height i can see over most traffic to avoid hazards. Under normal driving i don't have to push it over 2100RPM to get it moving which means it has ample power and little engine strain. And last but not least the ladies always compliment the "heat only on feet" climate control option. After driving this vehicle 2 of my dads friends sold their pathfinder and explorer to buy one themselves. So my question is...are your feeling the love?

I think Ill really feel the love when they put a V8 in this thing and a more macho grille. If they can put a v6 in the RAV4, they can do these things.
I like the looks of the 4runner but cant get comfortable inside it like I can in one of these.

Not sure we need the V8 with the Highlander Hybrid available as it is V8 power with 4 cyl fuel economy I love my HH and how smooth it is with the CVT transmission.
Like you I find the Highlander more comfortable then the 4Runner and the styling needs to be updated.

Oh by the way, "Batteries are included" with the Prius & Highlander Hybrids
I purchased my Highlander about a year and a half ago and so far I've been happy with it. However, if I were in the market to buy now, I'd probably get a Rav 4 since it's nearly as large as the Highlander, but it comes with a much more powerful engine with better fuel economy and a lower MSRP.
I know... a new model of the Highlander is probably going to be introduced soon that will even be larger and more powerful, but where does that put my current Highlander? Looks like it's almost time to upgrade
After owning a Jeep G C and an Mercedes M class both of which we in the repair shop on a monthly basis, owning an 05 Highlander is a refreshing change. In the past year the only thing done to the Highlander has been maintenance and the transmission flash. This is by far the best SUV I have ever owned. I will admit the M class is better off road and is loaded with safety features but the poor reliability negates all that. With the poor condition of the roads in Pennsylvania the Highlander is very much softer ride than the truck based chassis.
