Default Just did the transmission reflash

As has been highly noted in here in a few threads, there was a TSB for at least the 04 Highlanders - dealing with the hesitation issues. On my Highlander, the only real hesitation problem arose when you stepped on the gas (pedal to the floor) all the way, either from rest or near rest.

I finally got around to going to my dealership and getting the reflash done. The service advisor said he's now done hundreds of them in the past 6 months and it appears to be correcting the problem. Further, he said that probably all of them have some sort of issue associated with hesitation, but it only surfaces in certain circumstances - like mine or others. For the most part, the car shifted pretty smooth in all other ways, except for the way I described.

Anyway, the flash was a tremendous improvement. The car moves better from rest and shifts even better than it did before in all circumstances.

If you haven't had it done and you even question whether there is any hesitation, get the reflash. And, yes, it is covered under the warranty just as the DVD Navigation update is as well.

I had this done to my 05 limited a few months ago and find the shifting much improved. It does not completely cure the hesitation but it helps a great deal.

The reflash is for the six cylinder with five speed transmission. I don't know if it covers any other model.
