HighlanderGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid.
This is a discussion thread titled "2007 highlander FT-SX concept spinoff", within the Highlander forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
I guess I'm really surprised this group of enthusiasts isn't salivating over the next generation highlander like many are for the FJ spinoff and the new 268 HP Rav 4.
I suppose I'd say if you weren't in love with the current milk-toast styling and were in the market for a highlander it'd be better to wait until next fall.
Lets see it come out before we start celebrating, in my experience the look of a vehicle changes very slightly every year. I figure its gonna take a few years to get to that point.

It looks sort of like a large wagon. But I guess it makes sense for Toyota to position the next gen Highlander in that category since the RAV4 has taken it's spot as a mid-sized SUV in Toyota's Lineup; and I can't see Toyota making a Highlander larger than the 4Runner. If they did that, they would have to re-vamp their entire line.
This is what I imagine Toyota's lineup will be:
In the wagon category (from smallest to largest):
Yaris, Scion xA, Matrix, Highlander
In the SUV category
RAV4, 4Runner, Landcruiser, Sequoia
(the Landcruiser should be at the top of the list, but in physical dimensions the Sequoia is larger)
