This is a discussion thread titled "03' Highlander", within the Highlander forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
Hi,
My husband recently (a week ago) changed the oil on our "new to us" highlander.
It is a 4 cylinder with 37,950 miles.
The check engine came on yesterday and he thinks it is an O2 sensor.
I would rather not have to start with the dealer, is it worth it to purchase an ODB11 scanner?
Also, my camry o3' has a feature that automatically locks the doors when you put the car in reverse, is this feature available on the 03' Highlander?
Thanks,

Some auto parts stores will read the codes for you. I think Autozone is one of them. Of course they probably want you to but their parts. It's worth a shot.
I believe you do have the auto lock feature on your 03 Highlander. If you stop by the dealer and ask them to program it, I believe it won't cost you anything.
check a simple thing first.....make sure hubby didnt knock any vacuam hoses off the air filter box.
I had the air filter out of mine,,,,i didnt notice a hose had detached itself from a plug on the side of the air cleaner box....check engine lite came on as a result....once plugged back in, you need to reset the check engine lite ....hopefully something that simple...
