Default Amateur Radio Install in HiHy

I'm preparing to install my IC-706MKIIG in my new HiHy and would appreciate any info from anyone who has performed this before - looking for some hints and tips. I'm planning to wire direct to the aux battery (12v) with the base unit in the rear (hopefully in a compartment in the jack area) and the remote head up front. The two antennas will be mounted on the rear lift gate(door) - a Diamond 2mtr/70cm and a Tarheel II.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to route the 10ga power line from the battery to the rear of the vehicle and the remote control head cable to the front of the vehicle.

Hi!
Just got my HiHy last week and planning to move my IC706 over also. Since so much of the HiHy system is dependent on the 12v battery, I was considering setting up a separate lead acid battery system in the back that I could trickle charge off the rear power adapter outlet. I won't have to worry about running a dc line from the front and also won't deplete the main car battery. Haven't figured out how to mount the antennas yet.

I mounted my antenna's on the rear door - Tar Heel II on one side and Diamond VHF/UHF on the other - using the diamond hatch/mounts (K340? I think for the tar heel II). The IC706 main unit is mounted in the rear - over the tire jack - mounted on the little "quarter" panel with the antenna feeds fed through the tail-lights and then up through the panel (I drilled the panel - a replacement can be purchased for about $100 in case of future trade-in.) Currently I'm using the rear power outlet for power - although Toyota states the max current is 10A (120W) the fuse for all the power outlets is 20A - with only VHF/UHF use I've had no problem and tunning the tar heel II with the turbo tuner - no problems. I still want to run a 10ga power line from the aux battery so I can properly shield the power line.

I will post pictures of the install in a week or so.

Still running from the power outlet in the rear - haven't figured out a means of routing 10ga power cord from the aux battery. On VHF/UHF this is no problem and on HF I limit power output to 50W. Still get a lot of noise on HF hopefully and direct connected power feed and some serious shielding/filtering will help HF.
