HighlanderGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid.
This is a discussion thread titled "Any information on the new Highlander Sport?", within the Highlander forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
I went to Toyota's website yesterday and found information on a Highlander Sport model being released in April 2006.
Does anyone have details on how it will differ from the base and limited models? When I called my local Toyota dealer they weren't aware that this package was coming out>

In 2005, the Society of Automotive Engineers introduced a new test procedure (J2723) for engine horsepower and torque. The procedure eliminates some of the areas of flexibility in power measurement, and requires an independent observer present when engines are measured. The test is voluntary, but engines completing it can be advertised as "SAE-certified".
Many manufacturers began switching to the new rating immediately, often with surprising results. The rated output of Cadillac's supercharger Northstar V8 jumped from 440 hp (328 kW) to 469 hp (350 kW) under the new tests, while the rating for Toyota's Camry 3.0 L 1MZ-FE V6 fell from 210 hp (157 kW) to 190 hp (142 kW).

By the way Peid, hows the camry treating ya, I was considering getting a second car. Do you ever wish u had a 2002ish solara instead?
No I don't wish I had a convertible simply because I am not a convertible fan. I have a bike and that is all I need to get the breeze flowing. The Camry is fine, can't wait to not have a car payment though shortly!

Actually I meant the none convertible solara, reason is my friend got one. I test drove it and you can't feel speed in that car unlike this clunking SUV. Id hate to play copy cat, thats why im leaning towards a camry maybe. I know you have the same platform, thats why I ask.

My bad, I could've swore I read convertible somewhere in there. Must be getting old, sorry. I did think about the 2-door non-convertible Solara, but the doors are massive and I have kids, 4-doors was a must, although the 2 doors are sweet!

My first post-(Hello everyone) I have a question. Does anyone know if I can put other manufactures, (example: Mazda, Ford, etc). alloy wheels on my 04 Highlander? I see a lot of good deals on ebay and I don't really like the stock Toyota ones. Thanks
