Locking Doors automatically

Have a new 2006 Highlander. Can the doors be set to automatically lock when you turn on the key or put into gear, currently they don't and the dealer doesn't seem to know.

WOW! That is really bad news. My 2001 Highlander locked automatically - but I found the same problem with our new 2006 Highlander that the doors did not lock. Why would Toyota go backwards in this regards? Are you sure it's just not a programming issue? Maybe it's turned off by default??

Nope, Glenn is 100 % correct. It's been debated and looked into many times. It was deleted as an option when it went to production. It was just like my 05 Tundra Double Cab, same electronics and the auto door locks is not an option. I agree it's a bummer, but there is nothing we can do about it.
