Please Help - Tire pressure warning light in 04 HL
I have the 04 HL Limited. The tire pressure warning light came on for the first time a couple weeks ago -- didn't even know what it was at first, but checked the manual and figured it out. Found one tire a little low and adjusted it. But cannot find how to reset the warning light. It is still on. I looked in my manual, there is a page with specific instructions on how to reset the system, complete with a diagram that very clearly points to a tire pressure warning system reset button which DOES NOT EXIST in my car, at least not in the place where the diagram so very plainly points tit out. I cannot find the reset button anywhere. Neither can my spouse. This is frustrating.
Can someone either tell me where the reset button really is, OR tell me whatever other super-secret combination of procedures is needed to reset the system
Thanks.

On our 05 it is there--down below where the knee bolster tucks under the dash on the left side, it's black on a black background--right next to the OBD connector plug.

Re: Please Help - Tire pressure warning light in 04 HL
I just had a similar problem on an '05 Highlander...in the manual where it talks about warning lights it tells you how to reset the "Maintanance Required" light for oil changes...I am almost positive that it also resetted the tire pressure indicator light for me. I think the combination is:
Make sure that the digital odometer display is on total milage, not Trip A or Trip B.
1) Ignition in LOCK (the point right before you can turn on the engine)
2) Push in the trip mileage reset button 2 times to get to Trip B
3) Turn Car on
That should reset the indicator, but you should also re-read the manual to get the exact steps.
Re: Please Help - Tire pressure warning light in 04 HL
The tire pressure reset button in the 04 HL, is directly under the steering column where it attaches to the dashboard. You will find a button switch that you push in while the key is in the accessory mode, the light will go out when button is pushed in. Good Luck!!

This post was incorrect for the 2004 and earlier system, please see the correct info below.

Good post... That was the exact case with my '05AC - I kept resetting the button and initally forgot to check the spare...
Re: Please Help - Tire pressure warning light in 04 HL
Okay, the first post I made is correct for the 2005 and up system in all Toyotas, however, in 2004 and earlier the system is different. I apologize for the incorrect info about your system. In 2004, the highlander uses the ABS system to measure tire rotation to determine a low tire. If one tire rotates at a different rate than the other three, it will trigger the low pressure warning light. In this sytem it only monitors the four tires on the ground.
You will need to reset the system as described in your manual.

Re: Please Help - Tire pressure warning light in 04 HL
What do I need to do when I get new tires? Will the tire shop be able to easily attached it to a new valve? I assume it sends a signal to the computer wirelessly; does that mean it will need a battery replaced?
Re: Please Help - Tire pressure warning light in 04 HL
Ahhh, I just had the same problem in my 2004 highlander and unable to find any switch / button anywhere on steering wheel or around it. Wheels are brand new and dealership rotated the wheels when I bought this used highlander. Any help will be appreciated in how to reset the low tire pressure alarm???? Thanks.
