Default 2006 Highlander - Adding a hitch QUESTIONS!

I have multiple questions, so any help would be appreciated.

My boss has a 2006 Highlander that came equipped with the "tow prep package". He wants to add a hitch to the frame to do some hauling.

What have people found when comparing a toyota hitch vs aftermarket?

Where is the best place to buy one?

Is it just a bolt on peice? Is it a "do it yourself" item? Holes already pre drilled?

Any other advice?

Thanks!

I got the Toyoda hitch on my 2004 and it just bolted on in 10 min. For the wiring he will need the converter and that takes about an hour or so. I got it from Toyoda and the hole thing cost me about $180 or so.

Prices are up a bit. My local Toy dealer qouted me $283.00 plus tax for hitch and converter. I found them on-line at McGeorge Toyota for $252 plus about $26 shipping and it includes the receiver bar.

I had ordered and already returned a non-Toyota hitch. It was not a quality product. It's real easy to remove the existing bolts and install the hitch. The converter may prove a to be more difficult challenge.

I have Draw-Tite that I bought from etrailer.com on my '04. I saved about $90 from the Toyota version. The electrical was a bit of a hassle due to running a wire all the way to the front of the vehicle, but works very well.

I have a Draw-Tite hitch on my '04. I bought it from etrailer.com along with an electrical harness. The hitch was easy and took 20 minutes including unpacking and cleanup. The harness was a little bit of a hassle as the instructions have you run a power wire for the module all the way to the front of the vehicle. The hitch is a one piece that has a special section to get around the exhaust. I saved about $90 from the Toyota version.

Get the toyo hitch. It clears the exhaust properly and fits flush to bumper went reciever has no toung attached. Clean and neat.

Yu claim to have the Tow prep package.

So if yu in fact do, when yu instal the Toyo hitch it wires up neatly to the tow prep wiring that is already underneath the rear bumper waiting for the TOYOTA factory hitch!!!
