HighlanderGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid.
This is a discussion thread titled "A moon roof problem", within the Highlander forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
I have a problem with the moon roof on a 06 Highlander. It will not close. Only the driver side appears to move just a few inches forward and the passenger’s side seems to be “jammed” or “bound” up in some way.
When I hit the switch you can here the motor strain to a stop.
I inspected it with a flashlight and see no obstructions in the “tracks”. There is no freedom of movement even if I pull on it when under power.
Is or has this problem happen to anyone else?
Thanks for any help, Rain is in the forecast!

Sorry to hear that.... We have not had a problem with any of our Toyota moon roofs.

Oh by the way, "Batteries are included" with the Prius & Highlander Hybrids
look very carefully for any type of debris. Toyota sunroofs are almost flawless. But a lemon can always arise. Get it to the dealer fast if it is gonig to rain.
Also yu may try to disconnect and reconnect the battery and see if the sunroof will work. Just a thought. I know that re-initialization should occur when yu do this for the windows and locks.
If it is jammed ,then cranking closed will not work, only do more harm to the cable /drive system. Could be a cable adjustament at best if it is not broken all together.
The crank manual feature is only good if yu definitely have an electrical problem though. (Motor or wire or relay/fuse problem).
Unfortunately there is no such manual crank for the Highlander in any event.
