Default Headlight assembly removal

Hello All,

I'm new to this forum and had a question.

I've been trying to find out how to remove the drivers side headlight from my wife's 2003 Highlander due to moisture on the inside. I'm hoping to either find and seal the leak or replace the assembly.

I can't figure out how to remove the whole assembly. I removed the 2 screws on the top of the headlight and the 4 fasteners on the top of the grill but neither the grill or the headlight wants to come out and I don't want to break anything like I'm prone to do.

Help! I just got laidoff and don't have the $$$ to go to the dealer.

Thanks in advance. Mike

I have the exact problem with my girlfriend's 2002 Highlander. And I cannot find out hot to get it out either. My guess is that the grill needs to come off.

The grill has one philips screw behind the grill and then there are locking tabs that fasten to the bumper to the grill as it meets the bumper .It is tedious but can be disconnected. All this besides the obvious top Black clips yu probably see.

You are not going to like what I am about to say, but it sounds worse than it is. On my 05 Highlander, you have to remove the grill and at least loosen the front bumper. I am at work right now and cant type out all of the instructions, but it is labor intensive.

I will TRY and scan in the pages in my factory repair manual for all of the parts of removing the headlights and at least post them online for you all to view.

I had to remove the front grill, unscrew the headlight screws, and remove the screws from the bumper (including the ones in the wheel well and on the bottom of the bumper).

I will try and get these instructions up soon for you.

I hope that helps a little so far though.

Hi everyone. I posted this in the grill removal post as well, but wanted to pist here since this info pertains to this post as well.

I scanned in some pages of the factory manual and posted them on my cardomain page for anyone who could use this info. Again, this information is from the Factory manual so it is not info that I put together or anything. Just want to give credit where it is due.

I hope this helps everyone.
