Default Removing tailgate panel for wiring access

Hi, I'm new here. I want to install a backup camera on my '05 Highlander. It will be mounted on the license plate and the wiring will hook to the backup light. To run the wiring, I will need to remove the plastic tailgate panal and trim. I am worried about cutting or denting the plastic. Also, the panel on the inside of the back where the third seat seatbelt anchor is will need to be removed. Any advice would be appreciated.

There are diagrams available here.. It is easy

Just curious, obviuosly yu have the O/E nav....

Do yu have the Factory RSE DVD WITH the Overhead Combo DVD/Display or is your DVD player placed in the center Console??

Which Model camera have yu chosen?
I will be doing the same on my H/L ltd.when I get a break in the weather here.

The rearview cam is almost a requisite to have in this day and age. Most any Other car company provides the rear cam with a Factory Nav option theses days.

No, I have a Lowrance Iway 500c GPS. I bought a VR-3 wireless backup camera system. The camera mounts on the license plate. Only the camera needs to be wired to the backup lights.

Thanks for the reply!
