Default New to TS...

I'm glad to finally find a forum dedicated to the Highlander. I loved my 2001 and am even happier with my 2004. They're awesome SUV's.

Hi
I'm new to the site and found it while researching the High Lander. My wife is going to trade in her 95 Camry for an HL this month and the prices have gone from 25800 plus "fees" after the rebate to 32000. Is it possible to get a well equiped V6 w/o 3d row seat below $25,800. Thanks.

hello.

I have a 2004 Highlander V6, black on gray leather, 7 seater "B" package (bought mid Jan 04). Came onboard to look for more information on the HL. The HL is a very comfortable vehicle, and I can't fault it too much.

Anyhow, hoping to be able to pick up a thing or two from this board.

Thanks

Default new highlander

Hi everyone,
Just like the previous post.
My wife and I just bought the blue metallic Highlander Limited.

We looked at the Nissan Murano and the Mitsubishi Endeavor. Didnt really like the test drive. Also looked at the Honda Pilot and was not as impressed as I was a few years back. We liked the interior of the Highlander a lot better and the drive was a lot quieter.

The main competitor was the Ford Freestyle. I think Ford has come a long way from the horrible interior design of the Ford Explorer (we have now had two of these). The Freestyle has some features that we really liked: tri climate control, rear sensing, and memory for seat positions. All of which the Highlander does not have. That said, the ride is loud, the inside is still not comparable to the Highlander. It also tows less than the Highlander. Surprisingly, the Freestyle is heavier and comes with the volvo constant variable transmission (CVT). My wife liked the CVT, I didnt. The decision came down to this. Our previous two explorers had been in and out of the shop regularly. Our lexus GS300 has not. We are buying a car because the Ford dealor has said they dont know how to fix the problems our current explorer is having. I didnt want to buy another ford and have this problem at 100,000mi again. The freestyle is new and is likely to be problematic.

Also... contrary to most reports the Toyota dealer was willing to negotiate. We spent 1.5hours at the Ford dealer negotiating the same price when another Ford dealer offered more options for the same price.

We really did like the people in the Ford repair. They treated us well and did fix a lot at their cost. But listen to what I just wrote and you will realize why we bought Toyota.

-Greg

Default Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone :)

Hi everyone,

I am new in here so I wanted to introduce myself. I am a 28 year old professional who loves cars! I am very into car detailing and into customizing cars as well. I personally drive an Infiniti I30 and just got my wife an 05 Highlander which we both love!

Of course, I am starting to customize her Highlander just as I have done with my I30 because it is just fun to see what you can do.

I am not claiming I know all of the answers, but I just wanted to invite everyone to feel free to email me with any questions you may have and I may have an idea of how to help you out, especially if it pertains to detailing or doing some custom work. Let's just say I think outside of the box.

I belong to another forum online called Maxima.org and have been in there for over a year. Those Maxima/I30 owners customize the heck out of their cars, so I have learned a lot.

Anyway, I didn't mean to post such a "nerdy" post, but I just wanted to say hi and let you all know that I love helping people with their cars and working on my own.

Remember: Just because some company does not make a part you want for your particular car, does not mean that you can't find another similar part that will work perfectly or that you can't make it yourself and have it be an original that looks amaizing!!!!

Hope to hear from you all soon. Have a great weekend!!!

Just bought an '05, V6, 2WD, Bluestone Metallic for the wife from Boch Toyota in Mass. MSRP was about $29K. It cost me approximately $27K with the platinum package, taxes, etc. I was looking to upgrade from an '03 Rav4, which actually got me $17,000 as a trade in (originally paid $20,000 in October of '02). You gotta love the way these things hold their value.

I lurked here for a few weeks while I did my research. (Although there was never any real competition, as I'll only buy Toyotas) Thanks to all for a very informative site.

The Highlander has the best, quietest ride of any vehicle I've ever owned and I look forward to many happy years of ownership.

(Other vehicle = '97 Corolla. Not a single problem in over 7 years of ownership)

Three years ago, I joined this group looking for a 2002 Toyota Tundra. I am again in the market for a new vehicle. I spent most of 2004 looking at the Dodge Magnum R/T (I know it looks like a hearse, but the style is unmistakeable). This year, the Subaru Forester XT caught my eye as my need for a small SUV surfaced. My wife hated the Subaru and suggested I look at the Volvo, BMW, Lexus, etc...(anyone else see a pattern??). Since I have great experience being a husband, I started looking at the Toyota Highlander only because I am a fan of the show Highlander (I named my dog Duncan MacLeod).

I like the Highlander because it is a mid-size SUV that rides like a car. It does have an interesting body style, but I still have a need for a classic "old school" look. But this vehicle has something... I am looking forward to making the purchase late in the summer (I have one in college and one starting college) and will post my upgrades and updates as they become available.
