HighlanderGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid.
This is a discussion thread titled "06 hybrid rear springs towing help", within the Highlander forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
My brother has a 06 Highlander hybrid and it has the towing package on it. The boat he is towing has a tongue weight of about 450, which is to much for it. He says it is not bottoming out but is sagging. I think it is 4wd and has Mcphereson struts at the 4 corners. Does anybody know if there as any helper springs or air bags for it. I did some Googling but have come up empty so far.
Thanks for any help.

450 Lbs is too much tongue weight for the hitch and suspension on a Highlander. A Highlander, in general, is not made for heavy towing since its basically built on a slightly beefed-up Camry platform. Adding air bags or helper springs to band-aid the real issue is just asking for trouble in the long run.

I agree....the Factory Specs. are:
Highlander Towing Capacity with Tow Prep. Package:
He knows it is to much. He also is looking into a new trailer where the axle can be moved forward.
