Does come with an upgrated gasoline engine, I drove my brothers RX350, the engine has power and better fuel economy of 24 MPG?

That is the good news, but I am not overly impressed with the new look. Hopefully they fix the auto shifter, the previous gen's auto stick was really lousy , hard to get out of park and put back into park.

Personally I think it looks darned good. More sleek and modern body, and a much stronger powertrain. Nicely upgraded interior with an innovative rear seat solution (convertible between captains chairs & bench). Take a look at

There a lot of high res pictures in this site:

Autoblog

I personally think it looks fine. Most cars nowadays have similar styling cues anyway.

I would like to know if pricing increased, if all airbags are standard, and most importantly, where this will be built. If all pass, I will probably get this again in 6-7 years.

Although I think the rear captain's chair are nice, it's not too useful for kids. I'd rather have a large bench. Wonder how that removable middle seat will do.

It has a seventh air bag(for driver knees) like the RX350.

17" and 19" rims
Nav screen is 8"
Backup cam is isolated to an info display. i.e. Nav screen is not required for the Cam.
RSE gets a 9" screen.
The 4 banger is gone.
Dual VVT-I( all four valves per cyl. adjust now versus only 2 on the 3.3)Yes it has 55 more Hp... but also weighs 500 pounds more!!

Rear door hatch glass can open separately. Power option on rear door available like the RX350.

3 zone a/c added(2front, one rear now vs. one front and one rear )

Bluetooth and Electronic Power Steering like on the Hybrid model.

Interior is nice . The exterior will grow on yu over time. I feel too it is RAV'ish looking. Never liked the Rav styling,....personally speaking.

I wish it was designed more like the FT-SX concept. I would have placed a preorder immediately. Just my taste in styling.

Overall, I like the 2008 Highlander. Toyota progress at it's best.

I don't expect great discounting for the first 6 months on this H/L or H/H.

I think it looks good for the most part, but the front grille area looks a bit too much like a Subaru Forester.

I also like the way the word "HIGHLANDER" is written into that license plate area garnish above the plate area.

I can't wait to see the whole model range and, hopefully, cloth upholstery in upcoming photos.

Zero problems with my shifter or on the RX's I have driven, or for that matter the friends and family that also drive Highlander/RX models. Your's must need adjustment.

Looks like Rav styling to me too. And those fender well flares look much like the first gen. Hyundai Santa Fe! Which was quite ugly in my opinion.

Interesting, when I showed the pictures to a couple of my friends their initial reaction they same, but they also said they liked the current Hyundai looks/styling better than the new Highlander.
Toyota missed the boat big time in my estimation. If anyone wanted the RAV4 style looks they'd by a RAV4. You can't offer the same styling across lines, only 'bigger', and expect sales or people to jump.

Toyota missed the boat big time by not bringing the FT-SX concept vehicle into production, like they did with the Tundra. Look at Ford, Dodge and GM's new cross over vehicles, they took the styling steps/risks I expected Toyota would have and they all look much better than the 08 Highlander. To me the 08 is outdated even before it hits the showrooms.

Poor planning and vision on Toyota's part I would say....

It does look similar to the RAV4.
I like the back of the Highlander. The back no longer looks like a mini van.

The First Generation Santa Fe resembles the 08 H/L.

The Second generation Santa Fe does look nicer than the H/L. But the 08 H/L will be bigger.

The 1st gen H/L was somewhat unique in exterior design, and was designed in Japan.

The 08 H/L was designed here in the USA. And it doesn't retain much from the 1'st gen H/L. Too Rav'ish for my taste too.

The Toyota Concept Vehicle that I refer too will probably be reserved for the upcoming NEW Lexus RX design. Lexus tends to get the more progressive designs.

Toyota wants to transition Loyal Toy owners to go to Lexus at some point.

Toyota knows that this willl happen if they Market their products successfully.

I also feel that it is similar to the Rav4. So I decided to create this animated gif out of two photos from Toyota.com.

Hmm, upon looking at more photos of the new HL, namely at the stow and go middle console/seat for the 2nd row. It seems that one cannot install a car seat in the center anymore. There isn't a rear latch.

Wonder if this will be an issue for some family buyers.
