Default need help with Highlander purchase

Guys, I need some advice -- my girlfriend is wanting to trade her '04 Element in for a Highlander. The only options we really want to have are the V6 & the 3rd row seat. We found a dealer willing to make the payoff and is offering the following:

2007 Toyota Highlander
Base: $26,430.00
Dealer Installed Options: $545.00
Total: $26,975.00
OTD price $23,437

It seems to have a lot of options, and appears to be decent deal, but I need the experts' opinions! Are there better deals to be had? Anyone know if Toyota will be offering some big rebates to clear them out before the '08 redesign?

Not a good deal, the dealer is quoting MSRP. The invoice price is $23,841.

You can pay the dealer 1% over and thats it...

He can get it for 23.4 OTD, that's much lower than 23.8 before TTL.

phanham, if you can wait, wait. Whenever a new generation vehicle comes out, the previous model can be had for dirt cheap.

Hey, its like the dealer putting up a brave fight with his manager to get the best deal for the customer.

Read between the lines, the invoice is 23.8 and the dealer is saying out of door for 23.4, he is not going to take a loss. Check if Toyota NA is giving $1000/$2000 rebates on that model.

What the salesperson is saying in convoluted words is: I will take in ur trade-in, sell below invoice and not talk about rebates, and make a good gain over the deal.

No one is going to sell below invoice, check the rebates.

You are confusing me. So your stating that there are 1-2k rebates for the HL?

So you phan should be able to get 23.8k - 2k * 1.01 ~= 22K. before TTL?

First question is ...Did you buy it?

2nd is it 4X4 or 4X2
3rd Cloth or Limited

There is a $1,000.00 Toyota Cash Rebate on the Highlander ( Gas Model) or Special Financing ......... Runs out tonight and something new will take place tomorrow.

Let me have that information and I can figuare out if it's a good deal or Not .............

Your price is not a bad one. Yu are at a close # at this point. Anything cheaper would be hard to get. Not impossible but yu would have to really start shopping further from your area to get some competition. Check with edmunds car buying service to do some leg work on average selling prices by other buyers. This will give yu a range. But always start with the invoice of base ,then invoice price of the options and work up. never down from the MSRP. The salesman will usually have the upper hand.

I used "Why Pay Sticker Price.com and stated I wanted to pay invoice. A dealer called me 20 minutes later (local to me) and there was no BS and The experience was great with no pressure. My model H/L was on a ship headed for my region and the Vin was assigned my name on the spot.
The dealer was happy ...I was happy.

But I feel always, the right dealer and the right salesman will get yu within $100.00 over invoice. And the dealer will get their holdback especially good for them if yu are taking very fresh inventory or ordering it before
they have the vehicle assigned to thier inventory.

But like stated above on a post, if yu really want an 07 versus an 08 wait till just before the 08 is available(June I believe for the non/hybrids). The dealers will get creative with the 07 leftovers for sure. Toyota (TMS)will almost certainly give internal unpublished incentives to dealers liquidating 07's.

Good luck
LT
