This is a discussion thread titled "Where can I find a rear bumper?", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Well, a while back I was backing out of a drive into traffic and a car crested the hill suddenly, forcing me to go faster than I usually do. The result was that I cut it too sharp and jacknifed the trailer just enough for it to kiss the spare tire mounted on my trailer tongue against my bumper, denting it. Now I may have to sell my Tundra (wife bought a 2002 Silverado then decided she prefered a car!) so I figure I should fix the bumper to help it sell.
My question is:
Where can I find a rear bumper for the Tundra? I found a few websites that sell them for the FRONT for around $210, but for some reason nobody has rear bumpers. I also am not sure if I want to tramp around a junk yard looking for one. And I'm sure Toyota dealers would charge an arm and a leg. So, any suggestions?
how big of a dent in it do you have?
I have a verys tiny one in mine....you have to look at the bumper at a weird angle to even notice it. I would be willing to sell my bumper if you would want one that has a tiny dent in it.
Because I am looking into getting a rollpan
I would look into a roll pan. It would be cheaper than a chrome bumper. Do a search on here for roll pans. 2DaMax has one on his ride. He got it when he messed up his bumper because it was cheaper than a new chrome one. Look at his photos to see it. I think they are around 200 + painting. They are either steel or fiberglass, that is why they need to be painted.

Hi, My 2001 Tundra got hit in back left and replaced the rear bumper with a sir michaels steel rollpan. I had my auto body shop paint it the same emerald green as my 2001 tundra long bed. He removed all the tundra markinings on the tailgate. It looked very sharp. I was scared parking the truck, afraid that someone would bump me, if that was the case, it would get really messed up.
THe rollpan was handmade, came with the license plate lights and brackets, also had the little hole so you can release the spare tire.
I paid about 250.00 including shipping. Then I had my auto guy paint it, and mounted it. It looked really nice.
Do a search on google.com for sir michaels in CA. I think they also make tailgate latch reverse kits, not sure though.
Good luck.
Thanks for your replies. I was mostly going to fix it because I might have had to sell the truck (long story involving a Chevy my wife bought and then decided she didn't want...I was going to have to take it over and sell the Tundra ) but now I am keeping it. I don't mind it much, since it's a work truck, but I figured that come resale time it would be a hinderance to selling it for a good price. If it was cheap to replace I was going to do it. I'll check into the roll pans, but I want to keep things pretty stock looking because I do not want any problems selling it later.
